From Dust DLC Removed

Amidst all the anger and controversary over the poor release of From Dust for PC, Ubisoft has decided to remove all DRM from the game. I am curious whether our two winners of the 100th Post Contest are still holding out hope for this game to be fixed. People have been upset, to the say the least, about From Dust requiring a constant internet connection, but it pushed PC gamers over the limit when From Dust did not work when it came out on August 16th. It was especially obnoxious considering that it was supposed to come out a month before, but they pushed it back in order to better port the game to the PC, looks like worked super well. There have been numerous updates by Ubisoft on this, but this is the newest and it looks like they have given up on DRM entirely for this game.
"We recognize that one of our posts in the From Dust forum regarding the need for authentication in the game was not clear. We sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding. Our tech teams are working on a patch that should release in approximately two weeks that will eliminate the need for any online authentication. This development time is required as we are working to ensure that those who have already started the game, and who’s progress is currently saved on our servers, will receive and save their game information locally. Once the patch is ready, players who already have the game will automatically receive the update on their next login and subsequent game sessions will be 100% offline."

It may be too late though, as many players have already refunded their games and those who could not seem to have lost all faith in Ubisoft. I'd like to say that Ubisoft is generally a good company, but they do have the one of the worst DRM practices and now it's biting them in the ass. Thanks for reading and check back later for a post on Anno 2070, ironically enough a Ubisoft game.

I am pretty annoyed by all of this truthfully. The obvious port-isms, especially the control and camera issues, are what rub me the most. Its like they didn't even try. Assassin's Creed games have had Weird controls on pc which I always attributed to it being a port, but in From Dust your mouse movement even feels like you are using a knob. The DRM stuff doesn't affect me a ton but I am against it in theory... Also... being lied to is lame.
    ...

Otherwise good game though... I really want to like it but I am definately waiting for all this to be fixed...

Your game worked right off the bat? It wasn't flat out stopped by the drm, like so many others? Ubisoft has been pretty obnoxious to PC gamers lately, hope it doesnt reflect the quality of future titles.

No problems for me with this game. Though I have to say, I always play my pc games with an xbox wireless controller. Once I shortly tried using the mouse, I felt constrainded so I know what you mean.
This game tought me how good a strategy game can be, from my point of view. I dont play games like c&c or the settlers, but when I saw the trailer I was caught. It´s a shame that they cut the DLCs and both sides are pissed. The gamers because of the bad port and the developers won´t earn enough money cause the people are deterred from buying.
That is just sad because of the game itself. I have been imaging myself what a sequel may look like. But for now I dont see any
