Who doesn't love good ol' Spidey? I know I love him. He is a comic character we can all relate to. His boss is an ass, he has women problems and trouble paying the bills. Well perk up Spidey, cause you have a damn good video game! I first saw this game when I was a little kid and I fell in love with it. There is something fun about beating down guys in hockey masks that scream ''Whoooo!'' when you hit them. As Spidey or one of his 3 other friends, you have many powers between you. The best part of this game is when you and 3 other friends join up to whoop ass! Nothing beats it!



Characters

This is a Spiderman game, so of course it has everyone's favorite smart mouth super hero. He is equipped with his wall crawling, web swinging, and web shooting abilities. Then there is the Black Cat, Spidey's sexy friend. Her main weapon is her whip which she uses to swing around or whip around baddies like a dominatrix. Then there is Hawkeye, for some reason he always seems to slip into Marvel games, it's like they cant think of anyone better. Anyway, his main weapon is his trusty bow and arrow. He is also able to swing around the screen, dont ask how. Finally, there is Namor aka the Sub-Mariner. He jumps around and beats people down and also has some sort of shock attack. Then we have the enemies. Other than the generic baddies, we have all of Spidey's greatest foes such as Venom, Kingpin, Green Goblin, Doc Octopus, Scorpion, the Lizard and many others.

Gameplay

This game plays like Final Fight half of the time, and Contra the other half. After beating down baddies for a while in Final Fight mode, your character will shrink down and you will have more freedom. Your character will shoot projectiles and will be able to crawl walls and ceilings. Dont even ask how the other 3 characters other then Spidey can do it or your head will explode. If you want to ask, I suggest putting ductape around your head so you can find the pieces.

Graphics

The graphics are very true to the Spiderman comics. Spidey, Black Cat, Hawkeye, and everyone else look great. Even the background looks beautiful.  The game was developed by Sega and runs off of the Sega System 32 hardware.  I love it!

Control

There are only 2 buttons in this game, Attack and Jump. And of course you have your basic joystick. You can use different combos to do different moves. If you hit both the attack and jump button together in fighter mode, you will do a special attack which will take away a little of your energy. In shooter mode you can crawl the walls and some ceilings. In fighter mode, if you get close enough to
your enemy and press attack, you can grab and throw your enemy.


Final Thoughts

I absolutely love this game, espicially when you play with your friends. Even if you hate Spiderman, you will love this game. It has a little something for everyone. If you are lucky enough to see this in an arcade, throw in some quarters and give it a whirl. I suggest using Spidey of course. I am lucky enough to have this game at my local arcade. I kind of want to play it now...
