Magicka: The Stars Are Left

I own Magicka on Steam, like many other people out there, but I cannot claim to have played it more than ten hours. It is a fun game, one with many levels, spells and secrets to find, but it was hard for my friend and I to get into it. Magicka has had DLC released fairly often and there newest DLC is quite exciting. The Stars Are Left is all about R'lyeh, a world from H.P. Lovecraft Cthulu universe and with that we have an adventure that is filled with mythical monsters. On top of that it also throws in two new challenge maps, two new robes/outfits, two new bosses, five new achievements, seven new enemies and to quote Arrowhead Studios, "considerably more than 2 new items and Magicks." This DLC came out today, the 29th, on Steam and it costs $6. You can of course play the DLC cooperatively or alone.

Besides the DLC there is one more item that Arrowhead released for Magicka recently released, back on November 16th. If you haven't played the game in a while you probably won't have noticed their updates, but in preperation for The Stars Are Left they released this "massive tech update" that contains some nice improvements, improvement that I'm a little surprised weren't already made. Here is the list of those updates.

Tech Update Changes

• Fairy familiar added, revives characters after death occurs in solo campaign
• Checkpoints now save progress even if game is quit
• Chapter select added to replay previously played chapters
• Several improvements to the server browser
• Physics and collision detection improved - less falling through the floor
• Frame rate stuttering - should be less noticeable for some users
• Extended particle system with particle lights
• Improved light performance
• Several minor bug fixes, game balance, and tweaks

Magicka has always been a pretty good game and these new updates plus DLC may give me a reason to head on back for a short while. If you are inclined to check out more the DLC, or the game in general, head on over to their main website or steam page. Lastly, watch The Stars Are Left DLC Trailer below. Thanks for reading.
