I've never written anything about Q.U.B.E. before but I probably should have, especially after seeing how the final product turned out. Q.U.B.E. stands for Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion and that pretty much sums up how you are supposed to play the game. It is a first person puzzle game, much like Portal. It also has the slick looks of the confined testing areas of Portal and the color filled buildings of Mirrors Edge. It came out today for $15, on Steam, Gamersgate, Playism (A Japanese Website) and Desura, but as of my writing this it has not been released yet by Steam. They are also working on a demo for the game which was to apparently come out on the day of the release but so far it is nowhere to be seen. Check out this official trailer to get an idea of what the game looks and plays like.
I don't know about you but that looks pretty great to me. The game has been in creation since 2009, made by three classmates and it so well done that it got funded by Indie Fund, plus it won quite a few awards. They are now Toxic Games and this is their first release. The game looks to be a lot of fun to anyone who enjoys good puzzle related challenge and some slick visuals. There isn't a lot to say about it, especially since there isn't a demo yet to try, but I will update this post as soon as I see one released, possibly doing an impressions if the demo is significant enough to alter my opinion. The rest of today I am working on creating videos for my SWTOR impressions, which should be coming later today if all goes well. Thanks for reading and check out Q.U.B.E.!

it looks like a blatant portal rip-off. I am interested in trying this just to see if it is.
ReplyDeleteI would like to agree but the way you go about solving things seems a bit different. We will see though once they make a demo.
ReplyDeletesure its like portal, but with no portals. kind of like the way need for speed is the same as pac man. ITS NOT PORTAL
ReplyDeleteYeah. I just played the super short seven minute demo and was very unimpressed. Honestly made me just want to pick up Portal 2 next time its on sale.
