Firaxis Games, the folks who made Sid Meier's Civilization and Sid Meier's Pirates!, among many other games, are making a reboot to the original X-COM, UFO: Enemy Unknown. They are making this X-COM with the original in mind, trying to keep it as close to the elements that made the original games unique and enjoyable. It will be turn based and it will a full on strategy game like the original games were. This game sounds like the kind of X-COM game that fans should get excited about.
Game Informer released the news by showing off their February cover, which will feature the new X-COM. It is going to be called X-COM: Enemy Unknown and will be coming out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The February issue of Game Informer will be discussing the new X-COM's destructible environments, the way real-time strategic view and and the turn-based combat will be interacting, how the X-COM organization that you control will evolve throughout the game and a bunch of unspecified details.

The February issue of Game Informer will be going live next week for both physical and digital copies. Check out more about it on their X-COM post that they put up earlier today. Firaxis Games has made some fantastic strategy games over the years and I couldn't think of many others companies that could possibly even attempt to remake X-COM in a new exciting way while keeping the original elements of grand strategy and planetary management. Thanks for reading and I cannot wait to write about this game. Be back with more news tomorrow.
