Renegade X Release Date Set

This very promising Command & Conquer modification for Unreal Tournament 2003 finally has a release date and with that a great looking pre-release trailer. I must immediately back track a bit and say that this game originally was a modification but now is a PC indie game that uses the Unreal Development Kit. All pervious beta versions of the game did require UT3, but the real game will not. This game has been in the works for a very long time and it definitely looks worthy of your time. Let me say plainly that Renegade X is a standalone modification for UT2003/UT Dev Kit that will require no extra downloads or programs on your part. The game is a first person shooter that throws you into a singleplayer story campaign based all around the war between GDI and NOD. While you may write this off as just being some tiny indie game based off Unreal, you shouldn't, it is truly gorgeous and unique looking. If you don't believe me do check out this short pre-release trailer.

Renegade X - Pre-Release Trailer - Mod DB

This first release is called Operation Black Dawn and it will contain a 1-2 hour section of the singleplayer campaign. In the near future they are going to have multiplayer along with several other sections of the campaign, all of which will be free and standalone. One of the most interesting parts of this game is that it isn't merely a FPS, it also has tactical and RTS elements that should help C&C fans feel more at home on this gorgeous battlefield. The game most recently just won #2 on the best upcoming indie game over at IndieDB, other than it's has quite a few runner-up awards over the years. It has been loved by the community because of it's goal of remaking C&C Renegade into what it should have originally been. I have a lot of hope for this game and it looks to be a ton of fun. Releases will be periodically coming out for over the next year and they will be in the running for best released Indie Game of 2012 by this time next year.

The first release will be coming out on January 28th on IndieDB and their website. Check out those links for more information on the game and if you want to play it immediately they do have the beta version available for download if you have Unreal Tournament 3. Thanks for reading!
