*Update 3/2/12!* This contest ended today about fifty minutes ago and if anyone stumbles upon it confidently I'm sorry you missed out.

That limits you all to about 1500 games and I do apologize that I cannot giveaway more expensive games or more games in general, maybe someday. I also apologize if you are a console fan, but there is no easy way to gift games to people on either PSN or XBLA. Read the simple rules below to get into the giveaway.
Rules
1. To enter the giveaway you must comment about your favorite game, comment at the bottom of this post.
2. You can embellish on why it's your favorite game or you can just say the game's name and nothing more.
3. I will pick three winners at random from among the entirety of the comments.
4. You must include your Steam name in the post, in case you win, or you may use an account to comment that allows me to personally message you if you win.
5. You must comment by Friday March 2nd and it will end on Friday at 12 Noon PST.
Das ist alles!! or..That is all!! No more rules, just that.
Also, I will be messaging the winners on Friday.
Get on it people! I will be posting this around a couple places on the internet so I hope to see a lot of entries and no I don't have anyway to figure out if you are someone who actually visits Violent Gamer, but I'd like to hope the random winners are honest folk. Thanks again everyone for your support! If you have any questions feel free to PM me or email me, but don't put it in the comments of this post.
*I sent three people, the three winners, friend requests on Steam, so I may send them their gifts. Should be seeing an invite from Lokai08.*

My favorite game of all time would have to be Bioshock. I've played the game from beginning to end more than a dozen times. Would you kindly select me as the winner? ;)

My favorite game that I'm currently playing is probably L4D series. I'm a huge fan of the zombie apocalypse. I feel like I'm constantly surrounded by stinky, mindless waste of space and resources this allows me to follow my dream of a world with less people. It gives me something constructive to do besides strangling one of my bosses or a hooker. [ AAANNY WAY ] I couldn't love the game any more unless they added some mtv babie or Jersey Shore kids as some zombies [ game gets tougher since head shots wont work at first due to the kevlar tough layer of gel those kids use ] + It's a great greifing simulator as well in multiplayer.
My favorite game is definitely Portal. That probably seems like a bit of a cliche answer but for me it comes as close to perfect as any game I have played. The characters within that game (namely GLaDOS) had ridiculous amounts of personality and their dialogue was written and acted beautifully. The story was stellar and it unfolded with perfect pacing and at no point did it take you out of the game-play or break your immersion. The game may have been short but for me it worked, the game never felt like it dragged on.

My favourite game of all time is probably Chrono Trigger, for the likable characters and interesting story and world. My favourite at the moment is Dead Space 2, I love the non-intrusive UI that fits the game so well, and the battle system is fun.

Hello!, i would defiantly have to say DIABLO 2,, can not go wrong this is why :)
ReplyDeletesteam account is : http://steamcommunity.com/id/floppybanana/
This list is about all the good stuff that made Diablo 2 be timeless and awesome
Very hard to reach lvl 99, which means people that reached 94+ were "good" (or at least very dedicated)
Having to distribute stat points your self, which allowed for perfect builds for the gear you had. It also allowed to have a learning experience "AAAHHHH", First few times I would put to many points into X and could not have enough in Y so I could not wear item Z. Next time you would do it right!, and it would be fun to learn how D2 works, what stat do I benefit most from when I am attempting to have Build X.
(Note: there are games that take this decision and learning experience from you, but those games target another market, for example fisher price users)
Awesome Unique Items that had slight variations in stats (ie. perf non perf)
Unique Items could have attributes that no other item (magic, rare) would have, making them key objects for best builds
Runes and the Runewords which were (and are) an absolutely awesome idea
Unique areas that turned out to be KEY areas to MF, once these areas were determined someone would farm that area and be rewarded with better chances which was a HUGE reason why people were doing MF
Players want to farm Bosses because they are so different from normal mobs, farming normal mobs is no fun, but having to rush through garbage-mobs in order to reach a boss is what it's all about
The possibility to have your character be absolutely crazy awesome in one or more aspects (ie. Massively stacked Lightning on a sorc AND using infinity on the merc, or hitting exactely 125 FCR on a Hammerdin in order to be ultra fast and smooth teleporter)
Hitting Breakpoints for certain classes/builds was incredibly fun and gave you the feel that you are doing stuff right where on the other hand there were people that didn't know anything about breakpoints would still have fun with a char that was failing breakpoints, it basically meant that "pro" players would look at small details that could make quite the difference where as "newbs" didn't know about these things, didn't care about it AND were still all happy and having fun never the less
no reference to other games, but cool references to other things non-gaming-world related
No moments where you would be like "oh LOL this is very similar like from this other game" some people either disliked that and some didn't care. - don't put it in - Diablo 2 team did it right!
Little weak spots in game design, that allowed for stuff like G-Rushes, Uber Farming - that's what made gamers feel special, "Pro" etc and it made Gamers come back to play D2 over and over again. "Oh I heard you can now rush your char from 0 to 80 in 2 hours, I might as well Install D2 again and start playing D2 again!"
Glitches that allowed for bugged armors to have a decent armor-value!
and last but not least, the awesome (but ultra rare) chance to have a rare item that would perfectly match your build and item constellation

My favorite game is probably Half Life 2. I've played several games before and they all just felt like games. half life 2 was the one that REALLY got me into gaming and sucked me right in there and made me feel like I was part of what was going on. It's also probably the one that made me really appreciate gaming.

I'd say my favourite game of all time is River City Ransom, the game was a side scrolling action adventure beat'em up role playing game... You can't even get games half this deep these days.
ReplyDeleteYou could travel across an entire city beating the hell out of many different gangs and gang leaders, using weapons and learning new techniques along the way.
A true master work of game design.
My favorite game is Skyrim because of all the things you can do and all the different ways you can play it. It's a game that you have to play at least 3-4 times to really get the feel of everything in that world.

My favorite game of all time has to be Half Life 2. I still remember when I received it for Christmas back in 2004 and installing and updating using our terribly slow internet connection. It was worth it. I still get chills in the opening sequence when the G-Man speaks to you.
ReplyDeleteThe game is perfect, the story is amazing and every character feels real. I will be replaying Half Life 2 for many years to come.

Tony Hawk's Underground. I used to waste day after day playing that game. It was also addicting and fun as hell.

Super Metroid is perhaps the most effectively atmospheric game I've ever played, and it does a spectacular job of telling a complete story and developing its protagonist without any dialogue.

My favorite game is The Legend of Kyrandia.
ReplyDeleteThe game introduced me to the point-and-click genre back around 1995. Though I have played many different games of many different genres since then, my heart has always held a special place for point-and-click adventures.
The game was difficult, and at times I didn't know what to do, but I eventually struggled through. I clearly remember breaking out the encyclopedia to learn more about birthstones to solve a puzzle that had me stumped. The game was funny with a cast of memorable characters.
Over the next few years two sequels showed up, The Hand of Fate and Malcolm's Revenge, both better than the last.
Before I played these games I had only played games like Super Mario Bros. I didn't know that games could effectively tell a story and be an adventure, and these games opened my eyes to the possibilities.
