The Banner Saga Moves to Kickstarter

You may also know The Banner Saga under a different name, Stoic, but it is a new game that is being made by several former Bioware developers with considerable experience. It is a strategy rpg with a Nordic theme that is an adventure mini-series about vikings. Since the The Banner Saga website emerged a couple weeks ago, if not a month ago, I had been watching it and waiting for news, but I did not expect them to start a Kickstarter. The developers are focusing on mature gamers, thank god, and they are designing it for those who appreciate art, story and strategy. Before I go into any amount of detail of the game I must immediately show the first trailer that they made for the game.

Read on for more details on the Kickstarter and the game!
They do have a Kickstarter video, which I will link later, that describes the game in detail and explains how everything is going to work. Unlike many other Kickstarter games this one is going to be out soon. They plan to have a free multiplayer version of the game out sometime in the near future, presumably before Summer, and Chapter 1 of the game, the singleplayer part of it, is expected to be out next Fall. It does look like Chapter 1 will have multiplayer and singleplayer, but the multiplayer will likely just be built off of the free version. I must confess that this game looks really exciting and interesting, plus it has excellent chances of fulfilling the Kickstarter goal of $100,000, especially since it already has $50,000 in pledges and it just started today. Take a look at the Kickstarter video and let me know what you think.

The actual Kickstarter page has a ton of information on the game, plus all of the information on the various rewards. Speaking of rewards there are some very interesting ones in there, stuff like being able to insert your own crest into the game, which means that you likely need to have a family or guild crest, but you can also make one up. They also have a ton of art, t-shirts and merchandise available through the many levels of pledges. Personally I plan to do the basic $10 pledge, but some of the other ones are really tempting. So far there are already 1,608 backers and the game has $55,000 of it's $100,000 goal with 31 days to go. Do check it out if you are interested at all, it looks like a great game to be part of and I cannot recommend it enough. Thanks for reading, will update more on this when new information or gameplay is available.
