Gettysburg: Armored Warfare Giveaway

Hey everyone, thanks to the kind folks at Paradox Interactive and Danny Green we have two Steam keys for Gettysburg: Armored Warfare to giveaway, head down to the third paragraph for details on the giveaway, everything else before that is about the current state of the game. I am still working on a review of the game, but I have put up two gameplay videos that show off a large portion of the game. If you want some specific details about the game and what it is about take a look at my post about Gettysburg from Monday, otherwise let me warn about the game's many problems at the moment. For one, it is quite buggy, servers, gameplay, everything. Secondly, the gameplay isn't all that fun at the moment, sure you can enjoy blowing up some people from a Zepellin in 64 player deathmatch, but as one of those soldiers on the ground it sure doesn't feel all that good. Movement is sluggish, frame rate is all over the place for many people (it's pretty good for me though), there are quite a few disconnect problems on the servers, the 2 vs 2 RTS mode just started working today, the A.I. is pretty awful at times, the map is fairly ugly and overall the game is a bit of a mess, but there is good news for those willing to stick with it.

Danny Green has been constantly on the Steam Forums for Gettysburg: Armored Warfare, responding to criticism, bugs and praise. He has promised continued support for the game and is currently working on a 1.01 patch to get out there as soon as possible. It won't fix half of the previously mentioned problems, but it is a start and you can expect continued support as Danny puts out patches, a free Desert Warfare mod and modding tools. The game is indeed in rough shape and I worry that at it's best it will still not be worth the $10 that it costs, but I will continue to play it for a bit and review it sometime before the weekend. Here is my newest gameplay video, which doesn't show off many bugs, but specifically shows off the newly working RTS mode in multiplayer.

Now for the Giveaway! *Closed*
If you are still interested in Gettysburg: Armored Warfare and it's potential, then do grab one of the two keys I have for you. All you must do to enter in the Giveaway is leave a comment about anything related to this particular game or about us, Violent Gamer. Tomorrow morning at around 11 pm PST I will select two people in the comments at random and give them the keys. That means that when you leave a comment you need to either leave your Steam ID, so I can make sure I am giving the key to you, or some way in which I may contact you (email is fine if you don't mind it being in a public place like that). If you have a Eblogger profile or something affiliated I can send you a message through that as well. Now get on it!

*Got the two random winners, thanks everyone for entering and congratulations to the winners!

  4. Game looks pretty cool despite its flaws and I could use something different to play. Thanks for the giveaway and I'll definitely keep this blog in mind. Looking to start my own and I'm just browsing a bunch of start-up blogs or just lesser known ones and getting a feel for it all.

  5. Looks interesting. Our next chapter in History is on the Civil War, so I can say that there is at least a dash of relevance to my schoolwork. :D

I find the Civil War to be quite fascinating and would love to try out the concept of mowing down the ranks of the blue and grey with machine guns and attack zeppelins (I personally think that humanity gave up on lighter-than-air airships far to quickly). I shall be waiting sires: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198024664177

  7. The game is an interesting concept mixing squads of units from different eras blended together on a plain of battle. From the gameplay that I have seen I noticed a distinct lack of craft that fly and naval vessels fit, variety is lacking at that point. At least it was a nice effort. http://steamcommunity.com/id/arcadewishes

I don't get why people aren't using their Steam login here, it allows OpenID.

Crazy people must not be paying attention.

I would like to try this game out, but I m bot sure about the premise.
