Hardcore Tactical Shooter Kickstarter

This game doesn't have a name, but it will be a Hardcore Tactical Shooter for PC, which is a slightly open ended genre. Mainly because some people will say that genre refers to games like the first Rainbow Six Games or the Swat Series, or on the other end there are people who consider modern games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 to be a Hardcore Tactical Shooter. People will think what they think, but Christian Allen wants to make a real Hardcore Tactical Shooter, the kind the really focuses on the lethality of weapons and non-linear close quarter environments. Allen is a developer who worked on the majority of the Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six games and recently was a design director for Halo: Reach. He left all that to make Serellan LLC, a small indie company that wants to make real tactical shooters, the kind that fans of the original Rainbow Six Games would be proud of.  Take a look at the Kickstarter video.

Read on for some more information on the Kickstarter.

Allen saw what Tim Schafer did with the Double Fine Kickstarter and created this Kickstarter in order to make the publishers see that there is a demand for this kind of a game. They have a goal of $200,000, which is tiny compared to The Double Fine Kickstarter, but a pretty large sum for a unknown company. Their lowest pledge option with a reward is $15 and that will get you full game and access to their private forums and developer blog. Right now the Kickstarter only has $14,000, but it still has twenty-six days to go and if people get interested in this then it can easily happen. On a side note it's hilarious that the highest pledge option, $10,000, gets you a custom Beretta 92FS 9mm that will be made by Christian Allen.

Personally, I love the idea of a real tactical game, hell even a game that felt as good as Rainbow Six Vegas did, but this project has a level of vagueness attached to it that makes me a bit uncomfortable. They do claim that it will be singleplayer, multiplayer and co-op, and that the Kickstarter is mainly just to get publishers interested in the project, especially since $200,000 is tiny for anything but a small game, but I'm still not 100% sold on the idea. Head on over the Kickstarter page and check it out, that is if you are interested at all, but then again I strongly doubt you will be reading all the way down to here if you weren't at least slightly piqued by the idea of a Hardcore Tactical Shooter. Thanks for reading.
