Before I go into the full features and bug list of this patch let me say that you can opt into the beta right now, but they recommend you keep your old saves just in case you have issues. If you haven't done this before you need to go into your Steam settings and go into the account tab, then you find beta participation and select change, a drop menu will appear and you merely have to click on Skyrim Beta. The actual non-beta patch will be coming out soon for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Read on for more info on what else the 1.5 patch contains.

Why the random Skyrim screenshot above? Well maybe I just think it's a gorgeous game or maybe it is slightly related to one of the other new features from 1.5, shadows. That's right, you now have the option to turn on shadows for grass, I'm sure everyone was clamoring for that one. All joking aside I do really like these three other new features:
1. Smithing skill increases now factor in the created item’s value
2. Improved visual transition when going underwater
3. Improved distance LOD transition for snowy landscapes
Of those three the smithing fix is the most useful to me, but that actually doesn't seem like a new feature, more like a bug fix, yet it is listed under new features.. peculiar. The fifteen or so bug fixes consist of quest fixes, crashes and some general fixes, but for a free update this one is certainly looking good. Thank you once again Bethesda. If you want to see the full patch list and information on the 1.5 beta patch then head on over to the Bethesda Blog to get it all. Thanks for reading, up next some news on Dungeon Defenders.
