Many developers have been showing off their games at GDC this week and the new XCOM, the one made by Firaxis, is no different. Game Informer was the first to show off the game back in January, which you can read about here, but now information about it is more freely available. This week they revealed the first gameplay video of the game, with commentary, and it looks pretty good. They also revealed that you start off with a limit of four soldiers, but you improve upon that over time with research. The video also shows off some new enemies that hadn't been revealed before, plus the cover system is looking very functional. I'm a bit worried that the suspense from the originals is gone and is replaced with action, but it's too early to say. For now, take a look at the video and let me know what you think of the new XCOM. It definitely is looking smooth, that much is clear.
